How does a “sponsorship”
work?
1. You must be able to provide space for the lecture
(holding at least 100 seats) and the workshop (minimum 20 x 30 room,
table & chairs for up to 20 and room to perform).
2. You must GUARANTEE at least 40 for the lecture
and 12 for the workshop. Lecture admission is generally $25 in advance,
$30 at the door, and the show fee is the same. Combine lecture and
show gets a $10 discount from the combined price, and the total
box office receipts for the evening are split between the sponsor
and McBride, with 70% going to Jeff. Workshop fee is $100 to Jeff,
and you can charge up to $120, keeping the difference.
3.
If you are opting for the 3 day event with an evening in a theater,
you must provide a connection with an experienced local promoter
or theatre group who will:
a. Provide show space with from 250 - 800 seats to be sold, either
in one show or cumulatively over 2 shows.
b. Be willing to guarantee a fee of $5,000 against 60% of gross
box office receipts, whichever is greater.
c. Be willing and able to market the show(s).
d. Be confident that he/she will make money under this proposition,
selling tickets at $25-30 each.
4. With
either package, you must provide, or arrange for the promoter to
provide, two or three round trip airfares (Jeff, Abbi and a Production
Manager), 1 or 2 first class hotel rooms or similar accomodations
for them during their stay, at a hotel with a restaurant and room
service available, and all necessary ground transportation during
their visit to your city.
Please do your homework before contacting us to
arrange a magic sponsored event. Poll your membership or customers
to make sure you can easily meet the requirements for the lecture
and workshop. Inquire of your local promoters or theatre owners
if they will be interested in considering a McBride show either
on one or two evenings, and find out what weekends might be available.
(Please follow the link at the bottom of this note to a McBride
Show Fact Sheet, which gives several reasons your promoter might
want to host this event, BEFORE you go to the promoter!) Check hotel
room costs and airfares, and make sure you have funds available
to finance this on the “front end.” Once you have all
of this front end work done, please contact me, and I will send
two sets of press and video materials on the project - one to you
and one for your promoter. If you want to go to different promoters
with the project, let me know, and I’ll send each one of them
a separate kit. Kits contain: Promotional Video, Printed Brochure
with bio, sample press releases, photos (Digital/ on CD-rom), basic
technical requirements, a sample version of our contract with the
promoter and our contract with your sponsoring organization, and
copies of reviews of Jeff’s earlier shows.
We
also provide approved artwork for posters and programs to advertise
the show, lecture and workshops in different formats.
MCBRIDE
- MAGIC AT THE EDGE
FACT SHEET
WHY
SHOULD YOU CONSIDER BRINGING JEFF MCBRIDE TO YOUR THEATRE UNDER
THIS ARRANGEMENT?
1. McBride has been seen regularly on
every major television network. your audiences will recognize him
as one of “The Worlds Greatest Magicians.” He is a Guiness
World Record holder, and Magic Castle Magician of the Year whose
shows regularly sell out and recieve rave reviews.
2.
Your local sponsoring magic organization will “get out the
crowd” for you. McBride’s biggest fans are magicians,
and they will help you generate strong press and word of mouth around
this event. In effect, they will provide you with a small army of
marketing volunteers. They can also help reduce your operations
cost by volunteering to provide local transportation for McBride,
helping with the technical set-up and running of the show, etc.
3.
McBride provides a show that is truly suitable for the audiences
of all ages. His show takes us on a magical journey through time
and space to discover the magic that is within each of us. More
than just a series of “how did he do that” puzzles,
the show creates a real magical experience, running the emotional
gamut from suspense to comedy and amazement. McBride is far and
away the most exciting magical performer of our time. The show is
not a children’s show…yet it delights children.
4.
Jeff McBride has been touring shows for over 20 years. His current
management and production team has been with him for over 15 years.
We are experienced in adapting the show to the particular needs
and capabilities of each theatre, and will do everything we can
to make your job as simple as possible, and insure that you will
not encounter any last minute unpleasant surprises. Our travelling
production manager will set light cues and call the show for your
local crew…which is limited to a light operator, follow spot
operator and sound operator.
5.
We will provide you with artwork and sample press releases you can
use to promote the show. We also make Jeff McBride available for
interview by phone during the period leading up to your show. He
will arrive in town at least one full day prior to the first public
performance (he will do a lecture for local magicians on the day
he arrives), and he will be available at that time to do live interviews
with local press in order to promote the shows. We will also promote
McBride’s appearance at your theatre on our own web site and
through our own extensive mailing list. |
